How to Shush a Baby
Here is How to Get a Baby to Sleep (with shushing)
In the off chance you find yourself around a crying baby at bed time, shushing seems to work better in a teamwork scenario. Like a verbal petition you're collecting signatures for with the main message being: *we all think you should go to sleep. It's one of Dr. Harvey Karp's 5 S' designed to help babies sleep / stop crying; and also the S that feels mean, but is actually rooted in science, and really does help.
Shush-related things I've learned that work are:
- Keep the shush long and sustained
- Make the shush as loud as their cry
- Don't give up, it takes a few minutes
- Reinforcement from your co-parent help (it can be a duet!)

This technique pairs well with a white noise playlist, Lady O responds to the handoff from shush to white noise.
